How can I find out which universities are rated best for a specific academic major?

My favorite place to look for best schools for a particular major is https://www.collegexpress.com/lists. You can search by major and sub-major. This list is curated by experts and goes beyond the usual Top 20 approach. There is a wealth of information on this site actually.  You will need to register first, but it's worth it! They also have great resources for summer programs, scholarships and articles on different majors and what you can do with them.

If you want to buy a book, the best one to evaluate schools with particular majors is The College Finder, by Steven Antonoff.

Bear in mind that one of the chief advantages of studying in the US vs. the UK or India is that you have some time to decide on your major, and to even switch your major if desired. We usually do not choose colleges based on major alone, as a result, as the typical student changes majors a few times. Bear this in mind before you choose your college solely based on the strength of a particular major.
