For U.S. colleges, you apply in the fall of your senior year. Early deadlines, both Early Action and Early Decision, generally occur in early November or your senior year. Regular Decision is generally at the beginning of January of your senior year. The most reliable place to find out actual deadlines is to check them on www.collegeboard.org. or from the college’s own website under the Admissions section. If you want to take a Gap Year, we still recommend that you apply during the fall of your senior year, and then defer. It is easier to get teacher recommendations and have transcripts sent when you are at school, and your head will be more in the game while you are still in school.
