I studied in two different schools during my high school years. Do I need to send transcripts separately? Or can both Principals sign and stamp on the same envelope?

You will need to send in your transcripts separately, one from each school. In some cases, your most recent school will list all of your previous grades on your transcript, in which case you could just have this one transcript sent. To make sure, ask your school counselor if this is the case for your school, and see if you can obtain your own copy of your transcript. This will be useful for those schools that require you to self-report your grades, such as University of California campuses, University of Washington and University of Southern California.

Now when you apply to any of the UC schools you just self-report your courses and grades in the application so you won't need to send the transcript electronically as part of your application.  If the school has any questions when they review your application, they will contact you directly and ask.  If you are offered admission you will receive information about submitting a final, official transcript.  At that point, you can work with the school about what they require as they will likely provide detailed instructions.

If your school does not have a counselor, ask a teacher or your school’s administration office how your transcripts should be sent. If you have access yourself to your transcript, it is sometimes admissible to self report your grades on the Common App under the Grades and Courses section. Some schools, such as University of Washington, University of California and USC, ask you to self-report your grades in any case, and then only require a transcript once you are admitted and about the enroll.

This is a normal issue. Early deadlines in the U.S are usually in November, and Regular Decision for elite schools are at the beginning of January. Some less selective schools have later deadlines. Regardless, you can send whatever predicted grades you have, or grades for the end of your grade 11, when you apply. You then send your updated marks once you receive them. Some universities, such as the University of California and University of Washington, do not even consider your grade twelve marks. You will be evaluated by whatever your grades were as of the end of grade 11.....View More

As I'll be taking a gap year for non academic reasons, I won't be in direct contact with my high school authorities. Will I be able to just scan my yearly report cards and upload them myself ? For instance, Purdue requires only the 10th and 12th board mark sheets, so would I be able to upload the scanned copies myself?

You will need to nominate a counsellor as the transcripts and letters of recommendation (LoRs) have to go through an official teacher account. It cannot be sent by students. Even if you can self report the scores, you will still need your school to upload a counsellor LoR and one/two teacher LoRs. Therefore, even if you are on a gap year, you would need support from the school. Inform your school about your plans and why you are taking a gap year so they can include it in their documents. I am sure they will be happy to help if....View More

Are there any top tier universities that do not require a class 11 transcript?

Hi there,I do not know of any. In fact, grade 11 is usually the grade that they look at the most. I'm assuming you did not do well in grade 11. If there is a good reason, for instance you were sick, or a family member was sick, then explain the circumstances in the Additional Information section of the application. Feel free to follow up with any other questions.
